Maximiliano Falcón is the new defensive reinforcement for Inter Miami. The Uruguayan, coming from Colo Colo, signs for 2.5 million dollars and joins Javier Mascherano’s team for the upcoming season.

The signing comes amid controversy, as the defender’s figure is marked by what the club and fans considered a “rebellious attitude” for not showing up for preseason with the “Blanco y Negro” team.

In addition, president Aníbal Mosa stated: “We received an offer, but it was considered insufficient”.

However, after a second offer from the American club, Colo Colo accepted the offer of a sum of 2.5 million dollars, reserving 15% of the value in case the player is transferred from Inter Miami to another team.

The turbulent goodbye of Maximiliano Falcón

Since the confirmation of the signing last Tuesday, a soap opera has come to an end for the Chilean club and the defender, who has also had time to say goodbye to his teammates and fans.

Falcón met with his teammates at the concentration hotel in Montevideo (the city where Colo Colo was going to play against Huracán) with the intention of saying goodbye to both coaches and the rest of the squad, in the same hotel, he also had time to leave a few words for the fans.

He has also had a few words with the press, stating in his farewell: “It was something I had to do. Everything is fine, I apologized to those I had to apologize to, I said goodbye as I had to, it was something I had to do, always face to face.”

Facing the press, Falcón also spoke in an interview for Todos Somos Técnicos, on Chilean TNT.

“Personally, it’s a dream I’m living,” the center-back clarified, talking about the new opportunity after arriving in the MLS. “I would have liked it to have been different, because the decision I made not to show up for preseason, I know it was wrong.”

“I feel very sorry for the people,” Maxi Falcón said through tears. “I didn’t want this to happen because I consider myself one more fan of the club.”

The legacy of “Peluca”

Maximiliano Falcón arrived at Colo Colo in 2020, and after four seasons, he leaves the club as a key figure in the recent history of Blanco y Negro, as in his first season he managed to avoid relegation, and the rest of his stay in Chile was dedicated to filling the club’s trophy case by adding two National Tournament titles, two Copa Chile, and two Supercopa.
