As the 2025 MLS season looms closer, Sporting Kansas City is making moves to strengthen its squad.

While the transfer window hasn’t officially opened, rumors are already swirling about potential signings.

This time, all eyes are on a Spanish midfielder who could bring creativity and experience to the team.

Following a season of ups and downs, the club seems determined to bounce back stronger. Their latest target is making headlines for his impressive comeback and on-field performances in Europe.

Sporting KC appears to have its sights set on a player who can not only bolster the midfield but also fit into the team’s long-term vision.

According to reports from MLS insider Elliott, Sporting KC is close to finalizing a deal for Manu García, a 27-year-old midfielder currently playing for Greek side Aris Thessaloniki.

Known for his technical skills and attacking prowess, García has had a standout season, recording 4 goals and 2 assists in 18 league appearances.

Manu García has been instrumental for Aris this year, making a strong return after a severe knee injury sidelined him in the past. In an interview, he reflected on his journey and future:

“Yes, I have one more year on my contract; time flies—it’s incredible. As for the future, we’ll see. I haven’t spoken to anyone yet.

Last summer, there were discussions about what might happen, but I stayed here. It was a tough year coming back from injury, and now that things are going well, I can’t think about anything else. I’m truly enjoying this season,” García added.

With just one year left on his contract, García’s next move is crucial. If Sporting KC secures his signature, it would be a significant step toward rebuilding their squad for the challenges of the upcoming MLS season.

Rebuilding the club with vision

Sporting KC has already bid farewell to one of its key players, Alan Pulido, who recently returned to Chivas Guadalajara.

Pulido’s departure, while significant, provides an opportunity for the club to reshape its roster. Pulido’s five-year stint saw him contribute 38 goals and 19 assists in 108 matches.

Adding Manu García to the roster could fill the creative gap left by Pulido and provide the spark needed to compete consistently.

For a team hungry for success, García’s potential arrival is more than just a transfer—it’s a statement of intent.
