A convincing victory in his 2025 debut.

The USMNT’s first friendly in 2025 resulted in a solid 3-1 win over Venezuela. Pochettino got off to the best possible start, with key performances from players such as Patrick Agyemang (Charlotte FC), Matko Miljevic (Huracan of Argentina) and Jack McGlynn (Philadelphia Union).

The latter, at just 21 years of age, has proven to be one of the brightest up-and-comers in U.S. soccer, making clear his potential to lead the midfield in the future.

Currently the best MLS players representing USMNT are with the team and have left great moments in their recent game, preparing for what is to come in the year of 2025.

Preparing for Costa Rica: A new challenge

The next test for the USMNT will be a friendly against Costa Rica on January 22. This match will serve to consolidate Pochettino’s tactical ideas and continue evaluating key pieces of the team.

In a recent interview with Copan Alvarez, the Argentine coach expressed his enthusiasm for the project, assuring that he is looking to prepare the team in the best way for the 2026 World Cup.

Pochettino also highlighted that his 16 years of coaching experience have been a key factor in the team’s success.
