The euphoria in the MLS continues to increase after the official announcement that the 30 teams of the league will participate in the North American Cup competitions in 2025.

This decision, which seeks to increase competitiveness and give greater prominence to the league’s clubs, has left some surprises.

Among them, the news that Toronto FC will only compete in the MLS and the Canadian Championship, being left out of tournaments such as the Leagues Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

CF Montreal will participate in the Leagues Cup, while Vancouver Whitecaps FC will have the opportunity to play in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, thus consolidating the Canadian presence in the most important tournaments in the region.

On the other hand, San Diego FC, the new debuting club, has been included in the Leagues Cup, marking a promising start. With its coach Mikey Varas at the helm and a series of notable signings.

Atlanta United prepares a spectacular offensive trident for the start of the 2025 MLS

While teams adjust their rosters, Atlanta United seems to be building one of the best attacks in recent MLS history.

3. Aleksey Miranchuk

Since last season, they have had the talented Russian attacker Aleksey Miranchuk, a midfielder with experience in European clubs such as Atalanta and Torino.

During the 2024 season, Transfermark tells us that Miranchuk played 14 games with Atlanta United, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists, showing flashes of quality despite the few minutes played.

2. Miguel Almiron

But the real surprise is the possible return of Miguel Almirón. The Paraguayan, who shone with Atlanta United before his time at Newcastle United in the Premier League, would be close to returning to the club that catapulted him to success.

After almost six years in England, Almirón is looking for a new challenge and at 30 years old he could lead the team’s attack again.

1. Arthur Cabral

Atlanta United would be in advanced negotiations to sign Benfica’s Brazilian striker, Arthur Cabral, a fascinating footballer with great performances in recent years.

At 26 years old, Cabral is one of the great figures of Portuguese football, and although he has had few minutes this season, his talent and goal-scoring instinct make him an attractive signing for the MLS.

If it comes to fruition, Atlanta United would form a spectacular trident with Miranchuk, Almirón and Cabral, an offense that promises to make a difference in the 2025 season.

MLS is not only advancing in its competitions, but also continues to position itself as a league capable of attracting world-class talent, preparing an unprecedented show for fans.
