For the last couple of years, the MLS has been known for being the place for players with no place in Europe to still compete at a high level.

The perfect example is Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba’s arrival, or LA Galaxy, with the signing of Marcos Reus.

However, the same thing happened for clubs around the world. They look for interesting young players in the MLS they could sign for little money. The example in this case is Alan Velasco.

The Argentinian gem has signed a deal with Boca Juniors for 10 million dollars. It’s an unusual price range for Argentina but cheap for a European club.

The same thing is happening with Atlanta United. Atletico Nacional, the Colombian club, wants the 23-year-old winger Edwin Mosquera.

Is this a good deal for Atlanta United?

The 23-year-old winger signed his contract with The Five Stripes in June 2022. Since his arrival, the Colombian youngster has played 53 games. Scoring five goals and delivering five assists.

Last season, he participated in 24 games between MLS, the Leagues Cup, and the US Open Cup. Mosquera scored one goal and helped his teammates with three assists.

Although his numbers aren’t the best, Edwin Mosquera has been one of the most threatened weapons of Atlanta United. His speed and agility are perfect and help him win individual duels against defenders.

Also, Atlanta needs to understand he is only 23 years old. He has plenty of room for improvement. Edwin Mosquera’s career is just starting, and in these last couple of games, he has been going on the right foot.

Atlanta United should keep Edwin Mosquera. They should upgrade him to the first team and continue playing in crucial games.

They should keep him because if he continues developing his skills, his market value could double or even triple before his contract expires. This would create a significant financial advantage for Atlanta United, making it a wise business decision to retain him.
